School Holidays in Turkey 2024-2025
Below are the school holidays in Turkey 2024-2025. The officially published dates start on Monday and end on Friday. But in reality, Saturdays and Sundays before and after the school holidays are added.
IMPORTANT! In addition to school holidays, children in Turkey have a break from school on public holidays. These days are listed at the end of the article.
- First day of school: Monday, September 9, 2024.
- First Term Mid-Term Break: Monday, November 11th to Friday, November 15th, 2024. Children will actually be on break from Saturday, November 9th to Sunday, November 17th, 2024.
- Semester break: Monday, January 20, to Friday, January 31, 2025. In fact, children will be on holiday from Saturday, January 18, to Sunday, February 2, 2025.
- Second Term Mid-Term Break: Monday, March 31st to Friday, April 4th, 2025. Children will actually be on break from Saturday, March 29th to Sunday, April 6th, 2025.
- Summer holidays 2025: from Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Additional non-school days for holidays
Below are the public holidays when Turkish schools are closed. The list is not complete as some holidays fall during school holidays for the 2024-2025 school year.
IMPORTANT! On Republic Day (29 October 2024), National Sovereignty and Children’s Day (23 April 2025) and Ataturk Memorial Day (19 May 2025), children do not have a full day off. They attend schools for school activities.

- January 1, 2025 (Wednesday) – New Year.
- March 29, 2025 (Saturday) – Ramadan Eve (afternoon).
- March 30, 2025 (Sunday) – Ramadan, Day 1.
- 23 April 2025 (Wednesday) – National Sovereignty and Children’s Day (school events).
- May 1, 2025 (Thursday) – Labor and Solidarity Day.
- May 19, 2025 (Monday) – Ataturk Memorial Day, Youth and Sports Day (school events).
- June 5, 2025 (Thursday) – Eve of Eid al-Adha (after lunch).
- June 6, 2025 (Friday) – Eid al-Adha, day 1.
- June 7, 2025 (Saturday) – Eid al-Adha, 2nd day.
- June 8, 2025 (Sunday) – Eid al-Adha, day 3.
- June 9, 2025 (Monday) – Eid al-Adha, day 4.
