In this article, we’ll cover the following topic: school holidays in France in 2026-2027. We’ve compiled the start and end dates of all school holidays in French schools in zones A, B, C, and Corsica. You’ll also learn which national and local holidays schools will be closed on.
This is important to know!
France is divided into three academic zones—A, B, and C. Each of the country’s 12 regions belongs to one of them. The academic schedule varies slightly across these zones. Summer, fall, Christmas, and Ascension Bridge holidays occur at the same time. Winter and spring school holidays in France in 2026-2027 will be one week apart.
Some schools in France still have classes on Saturdays. This has led to the official dates of the last day of school and the first day of school holidays overlapping. This effectively means that the school term ends after classes on Saturday, and school holidays also begin after classes.
In addition to school holidays, French children take breaks from school on public holidays. In the Alsace region (the departments of Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin) and the Moselle department, there are additional days off on Good Friday and St. Stephen’s Day.
IMPORTANT! If a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the day off is “lost.” However, if it falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, schools can make Monday or Friday a day off. This way, children will have a long weekend—four consecutive days off from school.
