School holidays in Sweden 2024-2025: important to know!

Sweden is divided into 21 counties. They are made up of municipalities, of which there are 98 in total. Each county gives general recommendations on the school year schedule, but the decision is up to the municipalities.

The school holidays in Sweden 2024-2025 are no exception. Most municipalities follow the general recommendations, but with minor adjustments. Usually, the start and end dates of the school year and the Christmas (winter) holidays differ by a few days.

Autumn holidays begin and end at the same time in all counties and municipalities. Four weeks are allocated for sports holidays. Each municipality determines which of them children will have a rest from classes. One week is allocated for Easter holidays, either before or after Easter Sunday.

Autumn holidays in Sweden 2024

The autumn holidays for the 2024-2025 school year officially begin on Monday 28 October and end on Friday 1 November. The dates are the same for all municipalities and counties in Sweden. In fact, children will have their holidays from Saturday 26 October to Sunday 3 November 2024.
