How the academic year works in Polish schools
The school academic year is divided into two semesters. They are separated by winter holidays, which fall in January-February (depending on the region and year). In the first semester there is a Christmas holiday, which usually lasts eight days. In the second semester there is a break for the Easter holidays (spring break).
Summer, Christmas and spring holidays take place on the same dates. The timing of winter holidays differs depending on the region of the country. Poland is divided into 16 voivodeships. They are collected in four groups. The dates for winter holidays 2023 and 2024 are different. The map shows the voivodeships in which the winter holidays 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 take place at the same time.
In addition to regular school holidays, all residents of the Republic of Poland have days off for holidays. These days include all public holidays except December 27, the National Day of the Victorious Greater Poland Uprising, which is celebrated on December 27 from 2021.

- Last day of school: June 21, 2024 (Friday).
- Summer holidays 2024: June 22 (Saturday) – August 31 (Saturday) 2024.
Additional non-school days in 2024-2025
Except for holiday periods, schools are closed on public holidays in Poland and public holidays. Most of these days in 2023-2024 in Poland fall on school holidays. But there are six holidays when teachers and students can take a break from school:
- November 1, 2023 (Wednesday) – All Saints’ Day.
- January 1, 2024 (Monday) – New Year.
- January 6, 2024 (Saturday) – Three Kings.
- May 1, 2024 (Wednesday) – Labor Day.
- May 2, 2024 (Thursday) – additional non-school day.
- May 3, 2024 (Friday) – Constitution Day May 3.
- May 30, 3024 (Thursday) – Feast of Corpus Christi.
IMPORTANT! Schools in Poland are closed on May 1-3. Due to this, schoolchildren will not have classes for five days in a row, from Wednesday to Sunday. May 2 was made a day off from classes so that the students could rest longer.

In 2024-2025, children in Poland have six days of rest in addition to regular school holidays. They are associated with public holidays. Polish schools are closed on the following days:
