This publication is devoted to the following topic: holidays in Switzerland 2023, 2024, 2025. We will tell you which holidays are celebrated in which cantons, where they are working days or days off. In the article, ALYO.info will briefly describe the features of some holidays that you should know about. For convenience, we have arranged a list of the main Swiss holidays in chronological order for 2023, 2024 and 2025.
What holidays are there in Switzerland?
As in many other countries, Swiss public holidays are divided into two types: general (federal) and local. Local holidays may be celebrated in one or more cantons, certain municipalities or even individual localities. In some cases they are recognized officially, sometimes they are unofficial.
In this publication, we will list the main holidays in Switzerland in 2023, 2024 and 2025. For convenience, we have arranged them in chronological order by year and month. For each Swiss holiday, they indicated where it is celebrated.
Important! Some cantons do not officially recognize public holidays. But they are celebrated in exactly the same way. Most of the country’s residents have a legal day off from work on such dates, and educational institutions are closed. If such a holiday falls on a school holidays or Sunday, it is usually not rescheduled. We indicated such holidays along with state holidays.
