We will provide a complete list of national and local public holidays. We will also indicate the dates of the most widespread unofficial French holidays: 2023, 2024, 2025. If you use information from ALYO.info on your website, please leave a link to the material.

What holidays are there in France?

All French public holidays are divided into two types: national and regional (local). National public holidays are celebrated throughout France, in its overseas territories and departments. These days, most residents have a non-working day.

Local public holidays are celebrated only in a particular territory, or department. On these dates, residents of the region have the right to time off. Most often, local French holidays are timed to coincide with local significant dates.

In addition to public holidays in France, there are unofficial ones. The French do not have official vacation on such days, but many companies provide it. For example, on Kings Day many shops are closed.

Interesting fact! In France, a non-working day for holidays is paid only on May 1 (Labor Day). The law does not oblige payment of wages on other holidays if the employee does not go to work.

Number of working days in France by month

The tables indicate the number of working and non-working days in 2023, 2024, 2025 by month. It includes national holidays and excludes local holidays. For example: in French Guiana on Monday June 10, 2025 they celebrate the abolition of slavery. This day is a non-working day only in this department. Therefore, in French Guiana in June 2024 there are 19 working days and 11 non-working days. But the table indicates 20 and 10 days, respectively.
